Day One (Gurdwara bangla sahib)
In morning visit Gurdwara bangla sahib which is located in Connaught place, New Delhi. Gurdwara bangla sahib was originally a bungalow belonging to Raja Jai Singh. The eighth guru, Guru Harkrishan sahib ji resided here during his stay in Delhi in 1664. During that time, there was a smallpox and cholera epidemic and Guru Harkrishan helped the suffering by giving aid and fresh water from the well at this house.
then visit gurdwara rakab ganj sahib which is located near parliament, New Delhi. The gurdwara marks the site, where Lakhi shah banjara and his son burnt their house to cremate the body of the sikh guru Guru Tegh Bahadur who was beheaded in Chandni Chowk on the orders of the mughal emperor for refusing to convert to Islam.
In afternoon visit Gurdwara sis ganj sahib located in chandni chowk , old delhi. This site is where the ninth sikh guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur was beheaded on the orders of the mughal emperor Aurangzeb for refusing to convert to Islam.
then visit Gurdwara damdama sahib located near Humanyu’s tomb, New Delhi. This gurdwara is associated with the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. It commemorates his meeting with prince Muazzam, later emperor bahadur shah.
late afternoon visit Gurdwara Moti Bagh Sahib located in South Delhi. Guru Gobing Singh camped here with the Khalsa Army and announced his arrival by shooting an arrow into the cot of Bahadur Shah.
In evening visit Gurdwara bala sahib located in ashram, New Delhi. This gurdwara commemorates to the sacred memory of Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji. Guru ji fell ill due to small pox which was then pravellent in the city in an epidemic form as per as his devoted Sikhs brought him to this place on the bank of river Yamuna & pitched a larger tent for his stay here.
Gurdwara Nanak Piao located in rana pratap road, New Delhi this gurdwara is dedicated to the first sikh guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Gurdwara Nanak Piao was built at the site, in the garden where Guru Nanak Dev camped when he visited Delhi. He used to offer food & water to hungry and thristy, hence the name of the shrine. The word “piao” mean to offer liquid to drink and refers to the offering of water to all the thirsty who visited the shrine.
